Maria Charalambous has been dancing since the age of three and her passion for dance has led her to study dance & education at the University of Nicosia, where during that period has gained a wealth of experience in ballet, contemporary, theories in dance education and Laban Movement Analysis.Her care for helping people and working with individuals with difficulties,motivate her to build a career in therapy and went on to gain a Masters degree in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at the University of Derby.She has been practicing as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist since 2010 in education with children with learning difficulties, autism, cerebral palsy, with adults with cancer, autoimmune diseases and with elderly with dementia and/or Parkison. She has also volunteered with the British Red Cross as well as various community projects involving refugees.
She is a registered and founder member of the Association Dance Therapy in Cyprus. She attends regular clinical supervision with a senior practician to support clinical practice.
Maria practices at the music therapy centre Moysiki Epafi in Latsia and at the Multisense center in Strovolos where she brings compassion to her work with children, teenagers and adults for personal growth and transform. Her interest for the creative arts led her to offer creative movement base classes on different organisations and projects in addition to offer dance/movement classes for actors at various acting labs.
